The Sussexes had allegedly been torn over where to spend the big day, considering they just moved back to the UK at the end of August. Royal fans and experts had been analysing whether the couple could be offered an invite to Christmas with the Royal Family – but now it seems this won't be the case.

According to The Times, the pair will spend Christmas with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland – who lives in California. A friend told The Times: "For Thanksgiving and Christmas, they will do whatever Doria wants to do. They would love her to come over to the UK and spend it with them here, but they will be wherever she wants to be.

"They won't be having Christmas with the Royal Family. How could that even work? They know it would be too awkward and too difficult. They also know they're not going to be invited, and they're not waiting for an invitation."

The Sussexes moved to the USA after quitting their royal roles in 2020. It is understood that there are no plans for the pair to return as working royals.

Meghan is understood to be working on her As Ever lifestyle business which sells home items including food, wine and candles. She is also reportedly planning to collaborate with some charities and patronages from her time as a working royal.

Prince Harry has attended a number of engagements since being back in Britain. He is focused on the Invictus Games which will be held in Birmingham in July 2027.

The prince is also continuing to work with his UK-based charities. The King reportedly welcomes the opportunity to see his family more. He and Queen Camilla hosted Meghan, Harry, Archie and Lilibet at Highgrove House in July.

However, Prince William has not met with his brother and it is understood that the brothers do not have any contact. Prince Harry and Meghan have returned to the UK for what is being called an "extended" period of time.

According to The Times, the Sussexes are planning their first joint outing on Thursday in Nottingham.
