Storm Track 3 Forecast: Pattern shift brings storms, cooler temps next week

0A wild weather week is expected for Kansas. We have the heat and gusty winds right now. Temperatures Monday and even for some on Tuesday will be able to inch into the lower 90s. Winds will also be gusty.

A cold front will approach from the north and a storm system from the southwest will ramp up storm chances beginning on Tuesday. Severe storms are likely for portions of Kansas.

The Slight Risk area on Tuesday will reach from Southwest Kansas into the Central portions of the state. All severe threats are possible, including large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes.

A risk of severe weather may also need to be included for Wednesday over Southeast Kansas. Heavy rainfall will also accompany this stretch into Thursday before the cold front sweeps the rain out.

Rainfall amounts from a quarter to a half inch will be common. Several will be able to gain an inch or two with locally higher amounts this week. The threat of flooding will need to be watched.

After the front goes through, highs Thursday and Friday cool to the 50s and 60s.

Lows will be primarily in the 40s. Some upper 30s may show up over northern Kansas next Saturday morning.

Highs next weekend under a fresh pool of cool Canadian air will recover to the 60s and 70s. Next weekend will be much cooler but oh so beautiful for fall weather in Kansas.
