Kelly Clarkson furiously tears into Brooklyn shop she claims treated her ‘like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman’

Kelly Clarkson furiously tore into a Brooklyn store that she claimed treated her ‘like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.’

The 44-year-old songstress, who recently stunned fans with a new bold look, jumped to her X account on Saturday after visiting the home goods shop Art of Play located near Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The former American Idol contestant penned that she drove to the business because it ‘looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy.’

Clarkson then claimed upon entering the shop, she was ‘looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me. Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale.’

The Because Of You hitmaker further alleged that she was ‘treated like Julia Roberts character’ from the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman.

‘But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out.’

Daily Mail has reached out to Art of Play as well as a rep of Clarkson for comment, but has yet to hear back.

In the movie Pretty Woman which Clarkson referenced, Roberts portrayed the character of Vivian who had stepped into a clothing store on Rodeo Drive.

While she had money to spend in the shop, the retail staff judged that she could not afford any of the items and suggested that she go to another store.

Later in the movie, Roberts’ character returns to the same business while dressed in different clothing and carrying a number of shopping bags.

‘Do you remember me? I was in here yesterday. You wouldn’t wait on me. You work on commission right?’ she asked the staff.

Her character then held up her bags while adding, ‘Big mistake. Big. Huge,’ before walking out of the store.

Clarkson’s post on X comes shortly after the singer debuted a bold new look after quitting her NBC talk show.

Last month in September, the star stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers while sporting shorter locks that stopped just above her shoulders.

Clarkson further showed off the bob while performing at Providence College’s annual Late Night Madness in Rhode Island.

Fans supported her new hairstyle, with one commenting, ‘She’s in her “short hair don’t care” era!’

Another added, ‘I think Kelly looks great with her real hair. I don’t think she looks older. I think she looks great.’

Back in February, Clarkson shockingly revealed she was quitting her NBC talk show after seven seasons.

The Stronger hitmaker explained she was stepping back from the show to ‘prioritize’ her two children and sent gratitude to the team she has worked with over the years.

Her ex-husband and the father of her two children Brandon Blackstock passed away last August following a battle with cancer.

She broke her silence on the exit during an appearance on the Today show shortly afterwards and admitted it was not an easy decision.

‘That’s what was really hard. The crew’s been incredible. It wasn’t that the show wasn’t doing well.’

The songstress added, ‘That’s what kind of sucked, it was like, everything was going well. That’s what was really hard. It was people’s jobs. We are family there as well.’

However, Clarkson expressed that her priority is her children River, 12, and son Remington, 10.

‘Well, I think everybody probably gets the timing. Our family life, the dynamic changed a bit and it has changed for a minute now.’

The singer also shared, ‘I know everybody thinks, “Oh she quit.” I’m like, “I still have other jobs. I’m still doing stuff.” There’s just too much on the plate. So I’m like, “You know what, it’s time to kind of pull back.”‘

The final episode of her daytime talk show aired on August 31.

Clarkson also recently shared that she is not prioritizing on dating, and is instead putting focus on her two children.

‘My kids right now, I think – there’s a lot behind that – but I think that would rock their boat a little bit,’ she explained during an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast.

‘And honestly, this is not a bulls*** answer: I love my life right now. It just got to where I am not exhausted at every point of it.’

The performer further added that ‘if you’re gonna be in a relationship, you have to be willing to give some of your time up, and I am unwilling.’
