Not Gachagua? Speculations Sparks As DCP Leader Changes Tune On His Presidential Candidate In 2027
Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Cleophas Malala has said he is working to restore the relationship between Edwin Sifuna and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Malala maintained that he has a role to play in bringing the two politicians closer, suggesting that he has been making efforts to address the differences between them.
Speaking about the relationship, Malala said the association between Sifuna and Gachagua had not been in good shape. He, however, expressed his willingness to help restore their understanding and ensure they can work together again.
“Mimi ndiye nabembeleza huo ushusiano urudi sawa. You should know my role,” Malala said.
His remarks come at a time when opposition leaders are facing growing pressure to strengthen their cooperation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Political alliances and relationships among key figures are expected to play an important role in shaping the contest against President William Ruto.
Sifuna, who has been associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement, and Gachagua, the DCP leader, remain influential figures in the opposition political landscape.
Malala’s statement points to efforts behind the scenes to improve relations among leaders whose cooperation could influence future political arrangements.
However, it remains to be seen whether his intervention will lead to renewed understanding between Sifuna and Gachagua as political activities gather pace.
