Video of Kojo Bamba’s clash with Otumfuo’s ‘bodyguard’ pops up

Bamba is a former leader of notorious vigilante groups, namely the Bamba Boys and the Delta Forces.

Supporters of the NPP have defended his victory, arguing that his background will help safeguard the party from potential attacks, particularly during election periods.

However, critics view his rise to a national executive position as a major step backward. Many fear that bringing a former vigilante leader back into a prominent political role could plunge Ghana back into the troubling era of political party vigilantism.

Adding fuel to these anxieties, an old video has resurfaced showing a tense public confrontation between Kojo Bamba and Seidu MBA, a self-proclaimed personal bodyguard to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Seidu MBA is frequently seen alongside operatives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In the footage, Seidu can be seen aggressively confronting Bamba over alleged derogatory remarks made at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

During the heated exchange, Seidu is heard shouting, “I have been feeding you; I give you jobs to do. Am I the one you are calling a thief?” The confrontation escalated physically when Seidu shoved one of Bamba’s companions, who immediately pushed back. Fortunately, police officers present at the scene, with the assistance of bystanders, intervened and separated the two factions before the altercation could erupt into widespread violence.

As discussions surrounding political security and executive leadership continue, this incident has intensified scrutiny over the implications of integrating former vigilante figures into mainstream political leadership positions.
