Nnamdi Kanu Rejects Any Negotiation Without Biafra Independence Referendum

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has ruled out negotiations that do not involve a referendum on Biafra’s independence, insisting that the right of the Igbo people to determine their political future remains his central demand.Kanu, currently serving life imprisonment in Sokoto, made his position known in an address to the American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID) at its 2026 annual convention held in Duluth, Georgia, United States, from October 9 to 11.
