Rob Lowe’s grieving family gathered to celebrate son Matthew tying the knot with Emily Markus during a star-studded wedding in Santa Barbara over the weekend.

Nearly two weeks earlier, the actor’s 13-year-old niece Fiona and the daughter of Chad Lowe died by suicide on September 29.

The outdoor ceremony was officiated by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, with Lowe and wife Sheryl Berkoff sitting in the front row, Page Six reported on Saturday.

Lowe and Berkoff are also parents to son John, 30, who sat next to them.

Other celebrities guests were also in attendance at the nuptials in photos shared by the outlet, including Katy Perry, Adam Levine, Cameron Diaz, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt and Maria Shriver.

Markus wore a strapless, white gown with a train as well as a sheer white veil placed at the back of her head.

The groom, 33, wore a classic black suit and a white shirt for the special day.

Matthew and his new wife got engaged in 2025 after several years of dating.

Based on wedding photos obtained by Page Six, it’s unclear if Chad and his family were in attendance at Saturday’s ceremony in Santa Barbara.

Chad took a small step back into the public sphere earlier this week after having stayed out of the spotlight after his daughter died by suicide.

The actor returned to Instagram on Wednesday with a reposted video shared to his Instagram Stories that featured a clip of Irish writer Gerry Hussey.

He shared the post just days after his brother Rob Lowe’s son posted a poem in tribute to Fiona.

In the video excerpt, which was taken from a longer video, Hussey mused on the state of the soul after death during an appearance on Olivia Hunt’s On Healing podcast.

‘It is a frequency. It’s an energy field. And we possess it all the time within ourselves. We are all part of the frequency,’ Hussey said. ‘We all possess direct access to that.

‘We both possess the human and the divine,’ he continued in the excerpt. ‘We are connected to everything that is. It just makes sense, and there’s nothing there but peace and love. So when we die, where do we go? We return to a state of peace and love.’

Although Hussey’s sentiments were relevant to Lowe’s family tragedy, the TV star didn’t add any comment of his own to the repost.

Fiona was the middle daughter of Chad, 58, and his wife Kim Painter, 52. The couple also share daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, ten.

Emergency services responded to the family home at 12.10am on Tuesday, September 29, and the teen was transported to an area hospital, where the Medical Examiner said she was pronounced dead at 1.14am.

In a statement to People, Lowe and his casting director wife remembered Fiona as ‘a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.’

‘We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona.

‘She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.

‘Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.’

They directed anyone struggling with mental health to reach out to the suicide prevention helpline: ‘If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide + Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.’
