I-79 lanes in Bridgeport shut down due to tractor trailer rollover

BIRDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — A portion of Interstate 79 in Harrison County has been shut down due to a tractor trailer rollover.

According to the Harrison County 911 log the rollover occurred just before 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Bridgeport near mile marker 125. Information is limited, however the log states that I-79 southbound is currently closed.

A 12 News employee at the scene captured images of the vehicle, which appears to have gone off of the road and landed on its side or top. A Harrison County 911 official confirmed to 12 News that one person was entrapped but has since been extracted and was transported to the hospital via helicopter.

The West Virginia 511 website shows a significant slowdown in traffic near the scene of the accident.

Bridgeport fire, police and EMS, along with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia Division of Highways, have responded to the scene.
