“You Will Return to Nigeria: Kenyan Presidential Candidate Sends Message to Dangote

According to a report by Vanguard on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Patrick Osoi linked his message to his ambition to become the country’s president next year.

Kenyan presidential candidate Patrick Osoi has made a statement directed at Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote, urging him not to rush the commencement of his refinery.

Osoi said he wanted Dangote to delay starting the refinery, claiming that the billionaire would eventually return to Nigeria after he assumed office in Kenya.

“I want to tell Aliko Dangote, please don’t rush to start the refinery because, when I’m sworn in as President of Kenya next year, you will be heading back to Nigeria,” Osoi said.

His remarks directly addressed Dangote, whose refinery project is the subject of his statement.

Osoi’s declaration also connected his presidential ambition to what he predicted would happen to Dangote’s plans after the Kenyan election.

The candidate expressed confidence that he would be sworn in as Kenya’s president next year, presenting that anticipated political development as the reason Dangote should not rush to begin operating the refinery.

However, the statement provided does not explain why Osoi believes Dangote would return to Nigeria after his anticipated inauguration.

It also does not establish whether the businessman has responded to the Kenyan candidate’s remarks.

Osoi’s comments centre on his prediction about Dangote’s future and the timing of the refinery’s commencement.

The statement does not provide further details about any discussions between the two men or any plans by Dangote to relocate his business interests to Kenya.

Osoi’s assertion about becoming president next year remains a claim about his political prospects, rather than a confirmed outcome of an election.
