Florida Man Caught On Camera During 2nd-Floor Porch Peeping Spree

A Florida man is behind bars after home security footage caught him acting ‘lewdly’ on a resident’s second-story porch, according to police.

The incident came to light Tuesday, Oct. 6, when a woman contacted the Gainesville Police Department. She told investigators that her Ring camera recorded an unidentified man engaged in lewd behavior on her back porch late on the night of Friday, Oct. 2. According to authorities, the victim had an earlier run-in with the same individual and feared for her safety, though she did not know his identity at the time.

Investigators pulled still frames from the porch camera footage and circulated an internal bulletin across the department. Shortly after distributing the images, officers spotted a suspect matching the description.

Police identified him as 23-year-old Jaimickel Florence. When officers approached him, he was still wearing the same pants and shoes shown in the security video.

Florence was taken into custody on an active warrant for violation of probation, along with a new charge of voyeurism. Officers transported him to the Alachua County Jail.

“This case is also a reminder of the value of home security cameras,” the department stated. “Video evidence can provide investigators with critical information and help us identify those responsible for criminal activity in our community.”

Police suspect Florence may have targeted other residences in the area.

“We believe there may be additional victims within our community,” the agency noted in its release. “If you have had contact or witnessed this individual behaving inappropriately, please contact the Gainesville Police Department.”
