Bad News for Sifuna & Kalonzo as Another Prominent Figure Endorses Matiang’i for the Presidency

Presidential aspirant Fred Matiang’i has condemned the disruption of public gatherings in Nairobi, calling for discipline and respect for the law after receiving an endorsement from Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.

Matiang’i made the remarks on Sunday, October 11, 2026, during a church service at Jesus Is Alive Ministries, where he was hosted by Wanjiru. The former Interior Cabinet Secretary criticised groups accused of disrupting political meetings and places of worship.

He said every Kenyan has a right to attend a church service or public meeting without fear of intimidation.

“I strongly believe in discipline and order,” Matiang’i said, arguing that leaders should not allow groups to interfere with the freedom of other citizens.

The Jubilee Party leader also questioned the conduct of youths who reportedly heckled during the church gathering. He blamed what he described as poor leadership for the security challenges affecting some public events in Nairobi.

Matiang’i further stated that Kenya needs leadership that respects the Constitution and protects the rights of all citizens. He maintained that people should be free to express their political views without being attacked or intimidated.

The event also marked a political boost for Matiang’i, who is seeking the presidency in the 2027 General Election. Bishop Wanjiru publicly endorsed him, adding her support to his growing political engagements as opposition leaders consider how to challenge President William Ruto.

Wanjiru is also seeking the Nairobi gubernatorial seat and is associated with the Kenya Moja Movement Party. Her political plans place her among the leaders preparing for the next election.

Matiang’i urged opposition leaders to remain united, saying cooperation would be important if they hoped to form the next government. His remarks come as different opposition figures continue to build their political bases ahead of the 2027 contest.

The issue of political violence and disruption of public gatherings has remained a subject of concern in Kenya, with calls for authorities to investigate incidents and hold those responsible accountable.

Do you believe respect for the law should be a priority for all political leaders ahead of the 2027 elections?I
