Wicknell Chivayo’s Brother Spotted with His Brother’s Best Friend 2 Days After His Burial

Mourners at Wicknell Chivayo’s funeral watched his younger brother, Joachim “G6” Chivayo, lead a Shona dirge that left many in tears.

G6 wore a customised jacket covered in portraits of the late flamboyant tycoon throughout the service.

Speaking during the proceedings, he reflected on the last two years of his brother’s life, describing a sharp change in how Wicknell conducted business and gave to others.

According to G6, the tycoon’s business ambitions and philanthropy accelerated sharply before his death, almost as if he felt time was running out.

He also credited Lucy Muteke, saying her relationship with Wicknell was a major influence on his rise in his final years.

Barely two days after the burial, G6 was at one of Zimbabwe’s most prestigious social events.

On Saturday, October 10, he arrived at The President’s Ball Dinner in Harare with his wife.

The state function was hosted by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and drew guests from the country’s political and social elite.

His presence surprised many, given that the Chivayo family had only just wrapped up funeral proceedings for one of Zimbabwe’s best-known and most controversial businessmen.

Wicknell was recognised in Zimbabwe and beyond for his lavish lifestyle, high-profile connections and generous public gestures, and tributes poured in from many quarters after his death.

G6 appeared composed and well-dressed beside his wife as they mingled with other guests.

The dinner is a fixture on the country’s social calendar and brings together influential figures from across Zimbabwe.

Sources indicated that the ZANU Presidential Fundraising Dinner raised $9.5 million above its initial target of $6 million.
