Hafiz Naeem opposes governor’s rule in KP, calls for democratic solution
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has opposed the imposition of governor’s rule and an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
In a statement on social media platform X, Hafiz Naeem said political disputes should be settled through democratic principles and the political process rather than extraordinary measures.
He argued that attempts by those in power to govern through governor’s rule or emergency measures indicated that their political authority was weakening.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also criticised parties associated with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), accusing them of continuing what he described as an anti-democratic course that began during the political change of government.
Taking aim at the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), he alleged that their political histories included imposing governor’s rule and failing to respect the public mandate.
Hafiz Naeem further claimed that the system he described as imposed through “Form 47” had failed.
