Barcelona Handed Major Boost as Real Madrid Superstar Ruled out of El Clasico

According to a report by Barca Universal on Sunday October 11, 2026, Barcelona have received a potential boost ahead of El Clasico, with Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior facing suspension following his dismissal against Villarreal.

The Brazilian could miss at least two matches after pulling defender Nathan Saliba’s hair and angrily confronting the referee, while his punishment could extend to four games.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the incident occurred in the 71st minute of Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Villarreal. Referee Isidro Diaz de Mera showed Vinicius a red card after reviewing the footage following a VAR recommendation.

The referee’s report stated that the winger pulled his opponent’s hair while the ball was in play. Neither player was attempting to challenge for possession during the incident.

Under Article 130, the Disciplinary Committee could impose a suspension ranging from one to three matches for the offence. However, Vinicius could face additional punishment because of his reaction after receiving the red card.

The official reported that the Brazilian continued protesting loudly and approached him aggressively. His teammates eventually intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further.

A final disciplinary decision is expected on Wednesday, with the outcome potentially ruling Vinicius out of the upcoming Clasico.

For Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, the forward’s absence would remove one of Real Madrid’s most dangerous attacking threats. Despite struggling for consistency this season, Vinicius remains a major threat because of his pace, dribbling ability and capacity to exploit spaces behind defensive lines.

His potential absence would force Jose Mourinho to reconsider his attacking options against Barcelona. Yan Diomande could replace the Brazilian on the left flank, while Kylian Mbappe might occupy a different position.

Alternatively, Mbappe could move to the left, allowing natural centre-forward Carlos Espi to lead the attack. Such changes would present different tactical challenges for Barcelona’s defenders.

Nevertheless, Flick’s team will focus on maintaining their impressive performances. Barcelona currently hold a six-point advantage over Real Madrid, and the Clasico presents another opportunity to strengthen their position at the top of the table.

Vinicius’ final suspension length will determine the extent of his absence and its impact on the highly anticipated encounter.
