Mussa Dankwah Releases Approval Ratings for President and MPs in Bono and Bono East Regions

Pollster Mussa Dankwah, known for his work with Global InfoAnalytics, has released an analysis of job approval ratings for the President and Members of Parliament in the Bono and Bono East Regions. The data compares net approval scores, with the aim of identifying MPs whose performance may be falling short relative to the President.

Explaining his methodology, Dankwah stated that the analysis uses net approval calculated as “Excellent + Very Good + Good, minus Poor and Very Poor” for MPs, while for the President it is based on “Approved minus Disapproved.” He noted that where an MP is underperforming the President significantly, that MP could be in trouble politically.

In the Bono Region, four constituencies were analysed: Wenchi, Dormaa Central, Banda, and Berekum West. The data shows that MPs recorded higher net approval than the President in all four constituencies. Wenchi recorded the highest MP net approval at 61 percent, while Dormaa Central and Banda both stood at 34 percent, with Berekum West at 23 percent. Notably, Wenchi was the only constituency where the President recorded a negative net approval rating of -4 percent. Berekum West also recorded a negative figure, though the chart shows the President at -4 percent in Wenchi specifically.

In the Bono East Region, three constituencies were analysed: Atebubu/Amantin, Nkoranza South, and Techiman North. Once again, MPs outperformed the President in all three constituencies. Atebubu/Amantin recorded the highest MP net approval at 72 percent, followed by Nkoranza South at 56 percent and Techiman North at 47 percent. The President recorded negative net approval ratings in two constituencies: -4 percent in Techiman North and -15 percent in Atebubu/Amantin, while Nkoranza South posted a positive figure of 34 percent for the President.

Dankwah invited the public to analyse the data themselves, noting that the figures offer insight into the political dynamics in both regions. The comparison between presidential and parliamentary approval is often used as an indicator of local political sentiment and could signal where incumbents may face challenges in future elections.

The release of these figures is likely to generate discussion among political analysts, party strategists, and constituents in both regions as they assess the standing of their representatives and the President. As with all polling data, the numbers provide a snapshot of opinion at a particular time and will be interpreted in the context of broader national and local developments.
