Clever House Cat Evades Coyote Strolling Through Neighborhood

A popular video from Tacoma, Washington, shows a coyote strolling through a neighborhood. The star of the show, though, is not actually the coyote; it’s a house cat. The cat figured out exactly where it needed to be to stay out of the coyote’s way. In the video, you can see a black-and-white cat on a rooftop, keeping an eye on the coyote as it jogs down the street.

“Saturday morning dog walk in Tacoma found a very healthy coyote!” wrote AirWaterLand Photography in an Instagram post sharing the video. “This neighborhood cat was prepared. Can confirm the cat made it out safe.”

Although coyotes can make some pretty impressive leaps, the cat had the perfect vantage point to watch the predator, and it would be long gone before the coyote could reach it, even if it could jump that high.
