A shocking incident leaves visitors shaken.

A man was badly injured on Saturday, October 10, after he entered a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster, England. The attack triggered a massive emergency response, forcing staff to evacuate everyone from the park. The zoo will stay closed on Sunday as well.

People who were there described pure panic as police and medics showed up. Some visitors said they heard what sounded like a gunshot, and others saw paramedics bringing a stretcher into the tiger area. Police haven’t confirmed whether anyone actually fired a gun during the chaos.

Footage circulating on social media appeared to show a man wearing a black jumper sitting on the ground inside the enclosure. The video showed him with his arms folded and legs crossed as the tiger approached him. The footage then appeared to show the animal attacking him.

One visitor said that someone had “jumped into the enclosure.” The witness also described the confusion among visitors as staff evacuated the park.

“It looks as if someone has jumped into the enclosure and they’ve had to shoot the tiger,” the visitor said. The witness added that people reported hearing a gunshot, but police have not confirmed those claims.

The visitor also recalled seeing black tarpaulin around the enclosure while leaving the park. Police officers, ambulance crews and a stretcher were also present at the scene.

“It wasn’t nice. There were lots of people who looked really upset,” the visitor said.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed that the tiger remained inside its enclosure after the attack. Officers also said the incident posed no wider risk to the public. Police are working to contact the injured man’s family and continue to investigate what happened.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park said its emergency response procedures began immediately after the incident. The park is working with authorities to establish the full circumstances.

“We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened,” the park said in a statement.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed that it received the call at 1:33 p.m. on Saturday. It sent two land ambulances, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and a doctor to help the injured man.
