DeKalb County woman grateful to be alive after tree crashes through home during storm
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Tucker woman is picking up the pieces after a tree crashed through the front of her home while she was sleeping early Saturday.
Andrea Corbett said she expected the heavy rain and wind from the outer bands of Hurricane Isaias might knock out her power. She didn’t expect a tree to fall on her house.

“This particular tree, it never occurred to me that would be a problem at all,” she said. “I’m really in shock, actually.”
The tree fell around 3 a.m. Saturday. Corbett said it sounded like a loud car crash.
“My alarm went off, my house alarm, and I just thought, ‘It’s a tree,’” Corbett said. “Tried to look out the window … nothing. Just saw trees and leaves.”
When she went outside, she saw the extent of the damage.
“I actually almost fell apart. I thought, ‘My house is destroyed,’ is what I thought,” Corbett said. “But then I just said, ‘You need to pull it together. Pull it together now.’”
The storm brought down trees across the metro area. In Fulton County, a tree fell across Cascade Road and became tangled in power lines.
A tree also leaned against a home in Roswell, and security camera video showed a tree falling onto a condominium in Sandy Springs.
Corbett said she is grateful she is okay as she begins the long cleanup process.
