Prophet Thomas Iddrisu Declares Bawumia Will Never Become President, Backs Mahama for 2028

Prophet Thomas Iddrisu has made a bold political prediction about the future of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, declaring that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer will never become President of Ghana.

The prophet reportedly made the declaration during a visit by President John Dramani Mahama to his church in Goaso, where he expressed strong confidence in his prediction concerning Ghana’s political future.

Speaking before the congregation, Prophet Iddrisu challenged traditional authorities to banish him from their land if Dr Bawumia eventually becomes President of the Republic.

“Dr Bawumia will never become Ghana’s President. If he ever does, the chiefs should banish me from their land,” he declared.

The statement reflects the prophet’s certainty about his prediction, which has drawn attention because of its direct reference to one of Ghana’s prominent political figures and a leading contender in the country’s political landscape.

Dr Bawumia served as Vice President under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and has remained a significant figure within the NPP. His political ambitions have continued to attract public attention as the party positions itself for future electoral contests.

Beyond his prediction about Dr Bawumia, Prophet Iddrisu openly expressed support for President Mahama to secure another term in office during the 2028 general election.

“I want Mahama re-elected in 2028,” he stated, making his political preference clear during the gathering.

President Mahama’s visit to the church provided the setting for the prophet’s remarks, which combined a prediction about the opposition political figure with an expression of support for the sitting president.

The comments may generate debate among supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the NPP, particularly as political discussions surrounding the next general election gradually gain momentum.

However, the prophet’s declaration remains a personal prediction and political preference rather than an established outcome. Ghana’s next presidential election will ultimately be decided by voters through the constitutional electoral process.

For now, Prophet Iddrisu’s remarks have added another dimension to the public conversation about the country’s political future, with his prediction placing Dr Bawumia’s presidential ambitions and Mahama’s prospects for re-election at the centre of attention.
