1 killed in shooting on Ottawa Drive in Aurora

Patrol officers responded to a “verbal disturbance that resulted in shots being fired” just after 9:40 p.m. to 22000 block of East Ottawa Drive in District 3, according to a Saturday news release by Aurora police.

Initial investigation indicates two men got into an argument after a man was banging on the door of a nearby residence of a woman he knew, police said.

The shooting occurred in another apartment after the argument “escalated,” according to police.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, and the suspect was detained, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting or the identities of the victim or the alleged shooter had been released as of Saturday morning.
