According to Football Insider, Barcelona could be prepared to negotiate Kounde’s departure if Liverpool submit an offer in the region of £60 million (€71 million).
The reported valuation marks a significant shift in the Spanish club’s position on the 27-year-old, who was previously regarded as a key player and an unlikely candidate for sale.
However, Kounde’s future at the Nou Camp has become uncertain under manager Hansi Flick, with his playing time reportedly reduced this season.
The defender has featured in only four La Liga matches and has been an unused substitute in Barcelona’s last three league fixtures, fuelling speculation about a possible departure.
Barcelona’s continuing financial constraints could also influence their decision, with the club potentially considering player sales to ease pressure on their finances and wage bill.
Kounde joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2022 and has made 193 appearances for the Catalan side. His versatility, having established himself as an option at both right-back and centre-back, makes him an attractive prospect for clubs seeking defensive reinforcements.
Liverpool’s reported interest comes amid concerns over their options on the right side of defence.
Conor Bradley is reportedly expected to miss the remainder of the year through injury, while Jeremie Frimpong has yet to make the desired impact at Anfield.
The uncertainty surrounding Ronald Araujo’s long-term future, following his reported loan move from Barcelona in the summer, could further complicate Liverpool’s defensive planning.
Joe Gomez could also leave the club at the end of the season, potentially increasing the need for reinforcements.
Kounde’s experience in Spanish and European football, coupled with his ability to operate in multiple defensive positions, could make him a valuable addition to Liverpool’s squad.
However, any move will depend on whether Liverpool are prepared to meet Barcelona’s reported valuation and whether the Spanish club are willing to sanction the defender’s departure.
The reported £60 million asking price and Liverpool’s interest have not been independently confirmed.
