Dangote Refinery Raises Diesel Price to ₦1,800 Per Litre Days After Cut
According to Daily Post Nigeria, published on October 10, 2026, Dangote Refinery has raised its diesel price to ₦1,800 per litre, just three days after reducing the cost of the product.
The latest adjustment represents an increase of ₦100 per litre, taking the refinery’s gantry price from ₦1,700 to ₦1,800. The previous reduction had brought the price down from ₦1,780 per litre.
Despite the increase, Dangote Refinery’s diesel remains cheaper than the rates reported at several petroleum depots.
A market survey cited by Daily Post Nigeria on Saturday showed that depot operators, including Pivot, African Terminal and Integrated, were selling diesel at ₦1,905 per litre. This leaves the refinery’s current price ₦105 below the reported depot rate.
The adjustment could have implications for diesel consumers, particularly in Abuja and surrounding areas, where retail prices were already between ₦1,960 and ₦1,980 per litre, according to the report.
However, the available information does not confirm whether retailers have increased their prices following the refinery’s latest decision.
Crude oil prices were also elevated at the time of the report. Brent crude was quoted at $104 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) stood at $91 per barrel.
The latest adjustment follows a period of changing diesel prices at the refinery, with the most recent reduction lasting only a few days before the new increase.
For businesses and consumers who rely on diesel, the difference between refinery, depot and retail prices remains an important consideration when purchasing the product.
Whether the latest increase will lead to further changes in retail prices remains unclear, as no subsequent adjustment was confirmed in the report.
