Mother Appeals for Help to Find Missing 17-Year-Old Zinhle Mfutyana Last Seen at Maponya Mall

A mother is appealing to the public for assistance in locating her 17-year-old daughter, Zinhle Thandeka Mfutyana, who went missing after she was last seen at Maponya Mall in Soweto, Gauteng, on Sunday, 27 September 2026.

According to information shared by Missing Person SA, Zinhle was last seen at approximately 13:12 near the Spitz store inside the shopping mall. Her whereabouts remain unknown, prompting an appeal for anyone who may have seen her or has information that could help locate her to come forward.

At the time she was last seen, Zinhle was reportedly wearing a long black dress and a cropped denim jacket.

Her family is urging residents of Soweto, Pimville, Klipspruit and surrounding Johannesburg communities to remain alert and share the missing-person appeal in the hope that someone may recognise her or provide information about her movements.

The circumstances surrounding her disappearance have not been established, and there is no confirmed information about where she may have gone.

According to the appeal, her mother had not yet reported the disappearance to the South African Police Service (SAPS) when the information was submitted. Consequently, a police case number and investigating officer’s details were not available at that stage.

Anyone who may have seen Zinhle at Maponya Mall on the day she disappeared, or who has information that could assist in establishing her whereabouts, is urged to contact her mother directly.

Members of the public can also share relevant information with their nearest police station.

The family is appealing for the community’s cooperation to help bring Zinhle home safely. Anyone with potentially useful information is encouraged to come forward rather than speculate about the circumstances of her disappearance.

As the search continues, members of the public are urged to share verified details of the appeal widely to increase the chances of locating the missing teenager.

Anyone with information that could help find Zinhle Thandeka Mfutyana is urged to contact her mother on 068 981 6403 or approach the nearest police station.
