You Got Your US Visa Through Kurt, Now You Want Him Out — Thunder Blasts Ungrateful Football People

General Manager of Aduana Stars FC, Takyi Arhin, popularly known as Thunder, has openly declared his support for Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku to stay in office for a third term.

The experienced football administrator made the declaration on Sunyani-based Space FM, where he praised Kurt Okraku for opening doors for local football administrators.

According to Thunder, the impact of Kurt Okraku’s leadership goes beyond the pitch.

He claimed that before Okraku became GFA President, many football administrators in Ghana had never travelled outside the country in their entire lives. They had no passport, no visa, and no international exposure.

But under Kurt Okraku, he said, the story has changed. Many of them now have Ghanaian passports and even US visas because of courses, conferences, tournaments and other opportunities created by the GFA.

“Check most of them. Before Kurt, they had never travelled before. Today they have passports and US visas. All under Kurt Okraku,” Thunder stated.

He believes this is something that should not be ignored when judging the work of the GFA boss.

Thunder also questioned the loyalty of some football people who have benefited from the system but are now turning against Kurt Okraku. He said it is ungrateful for people who got their biggest opportunities under Kurt to be the same people fighting him.

For him, the decision is clear. Kurt Okraku has done well and deserves to continue.

“Kurt has brought respect and opportunity to Ghana football. Why should we sack him? He should continue for a third term,” he added.

His comments have sparked serious debate in the local football space. While supporters of Kurt Okraku say he has raised the professional level of Ghana football and brought more sponsorship and international connections, his critics say it is time for fresh ideas.

But Thunder insists the numbers speak for themselves. With more international slots, more training programs abroad, and more travel chances for administrators, coaches and referees, he says Kurt’s administration has lifted many people from local to international level.

As the conversation about the next GFA elections grows louder, Thunder says he will stand by Kurt Okraku any day.
