Nana Akua Addo could be enduring abuse for two reasons – Oheneni Adazoa weighs in

According to report by Ghanaweb on Saturday 10, October 2026, the high profile marital dispute and alleged abuse surrounding Ghanaian fashion icon Nana Akua Addo has ignited intense public debate across media platforms. The discourse intensified following remarks made by Oheneni Adazoa, the host of the domestic affairs show Ahenfie.

During a segment of her show, Oheneni Adazoa speculated on why an accomplished public figure like Nana Akua Addo would seemingly endure an abusive marriage over the years. She controversially suggested two primary possibilities, either the husband possessed compromising videos to blackmail her should she attempt to leave, or he was exceptionally skilled in intimate relations.

Furthermore, the talk show host expressed deep outrage over a widely circulated video showing the husband repeatedly slapping his own daughter, dramatically remarking that the fashion icon should have taken physical action in self-defense.

Amid the growing public outcry, government intervention has been swift. The Gender Minister, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, paid an official visit to Nana Akua Addo on October 9, 2026. The purpose of the visit was to ascertain the facts of the matter and to reassure the family of the Ministry’s full support in helping resolve the difficult situation.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings are underway. The assault case was originally scheduled for a court hearing on October 7, 2026. However, the hearing hit a roadblock when Harold Norman, the husband of Nana Akua Addo, failed to make an appearance. According to an official police report, his absence was due to hospitalization. As investigations and public discussions continue, the case remains a focal point for conversations regarding domestic abuse and child protection in the country.
