BJP Calls CJP Protest a ‘Flop Show’, Says Attempt to ‘Hold India Hostage’ Has Failed
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday described the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) proposed protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi as a “flop show”, claiming that the demonstrators had failed in their alleged attempt to disrupt normal life in the national capital.
Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said the scenes from Jantar Mantar being shown on television and circulated on social media did not reflect the broader situation in the country. He maintained that India remained peaceful and was progressing under the government’s governance agenda.
Patra accused the protest organisers of attempting to create disorder in Delhi and said their efforts had failed.
“The attempt was to hold India hostage, hold the national Capital hostage, that there be arson and violence here,” Patra said, claiming that the situation remained under control.
He described the developments as a triumph of “loktantra” (democracy) over “bheedtantra” (mob rule) and asserted that the protest would not succeed.
The BJP’s remarks came as CJP planned to stage a demonstration at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. The agitation was also intended to raise allegations of voter deletions during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged vote theft.
Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and party spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by Delhi Police after arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport ahead of the planned protest.
Dipke shared a video on social media that purportedly showed police personnel entering the aircraft and detaining him and the other CJP members.
Social media influencer Dhruv Rathee was also reportedly detained at his residence in Gurugram. According to a post on CJP’s X account, around 50 police personnel in plain clothes reached Rathee’s residence at approximately 8 a.m. and took him into custody.
The BJP’s characterisation of the protest and its claims about the organisers’ intentions were statements made by the party spokesperson. The supplied material does not independently establish the allegations of planned violence or the circumstances and legal basis of the reported detentions.
