‘No need for it’ – Aaron Rodgers likened to ‘Jim from The Office’ by former NFL coach

It may be his final season in the league but Aaron Rodgers is still splitting opinions at the age of 42. Heading into Week Five, the veteran quarterback is now being called out by former NFL head coach Eric Mangini.

Rodgers will be looking to pull the Pittsburgh Steelers back to a winning record this weekend when they face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. However, Mangini feels that Rodgers needs to manage his relationships inside the Steelers building better over the coming weeks.

When questioned on his frustrations over Mike McCarthy not getting the play calls out quickly enough, Rodgers replied: “I’m not gonna touch that one… Mike & I have talked.” Which in itself made it clear that he felt the plays weren’t being called fast enough for his liking.

Mangini has now reacted to the 42-year-old’s comments on the First Things First show.

Rodgers has also been caught hitting out at his own teammates during recent games over dropped catches. The veteran is clearly wanting to go out on a high this year but his emotions are being put on full display.

“No, look, I think it’s nothing. I think it’s nothing good. I think it’s nothing that you want to see. I think it’s nothing that we haven’t seen before. I think it’s nothing that’s helpful to the Steelers. I think it’s nothing that’s inconsistent with his personality. It’s so on brand,” said Mangini.

“What Nick’s talking about, it’s almost like Jim from The Office when he looks to the camera and gives that little half smile, like, “Hey, you know I’m lying. Everybody knows that this is really what it is.” Office. It’s just that there’s no need for it.”

The reference to The Office was in relation to how Rodgers said what he had to say with his facial expression whilst not speaking his total truth. It was clear what Rodgers meant, despite him not uttering the words he wanted to.

However, Rodgers faced similar criticism earlier in the season and he bounced back with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals. This time he will face a Colts team returning to the country following their trip to London last weekend.
