79-year-old man arrested, accused of shooting his great-grandson

Police arrested Willie Bell Friday night in the Shawnee neighborhood.

Officers were first called out to the 600 block of South 38th Street on a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the hand. He refused to be taken to the hospital and was instead treated on scene by first responders.

After conducting interviews, the Domestic Violence Unit took Bell into custody.

He is charged with Wanton Endangerment and Assault in the 2nd degree (Domestic Violence).
