Mahama Storms Ahafo Region With Resetting Ghana Tour
President John Dramani Mahama has begun a two-day working visit to the Ahafo Region as part of his nationwide Resetting Ghana tour, aimed at assessing development projects and engaging residents on government policies and their local needs.
The visit will feature inspections of ongoing infrastructure projects, reviews of development initiatives and interactions with community members to assess progress and identify areas requiring further attention.
Key areas of focus include road infrastructure, agriculture and agribusiness, with particular emphasis on projects expected to improve transportation, stimulate economic activities and enhance the region’s productive capacity.
One of the major facilities on the President’s itinerary is a poultry, meat and feed processing plant in Bechem, within the Tano South Municipality.
The inspection is expected to highlight the role of agro-processing in supporting agricultural production and creating opportunities for economic growth.
President Mahama is also scheduled to inspect the Tepa–Goaso road project, which is being undertaken under the government’s Big Push Programme.
The project forms part of efforts to improve road connectivity and facilitate the movement of people, goods and agricultural produce.
Another significant stop on the tour will be the Ntontroso Bridge, which serves communities around Acherensua, an important food-producing area in the region.
The visit to the bridge will draw attention to the need for dependable transport infrastructure to connect farming communities to markets and support the movement of agricultural products.
Improved access is particularly important for farmers who depend on road networks to transport their produce to trading centres.
Beyond the project inspections, the President is expected to meet traditional authorities and interact with residents to discuss development priorities and concerns affecting their communities.
The two-day visit will conclude on Saturday, October 10, with a town hall meeting at Victory Centre Assemblies of God Church in Goaso.
The engagement, organised under the theme Resetting Ghana: Citizens Engagement with President Mahama, will provide a platform for residents to interact directly with the President and share their views on government policies, ongoing projects and development challenges in the region.
