Man United make final contract offer for 16 year old prodigy amid Real Madrid interest
According to a report by Madrid Universal on Friday, October 9, 2026, Manchester United have reportedly submitted a final contract offer to teenage forward JJ Gabriel as they attempt to convince him to remain at Old Trafford amid growing interest from several European clubs.
The Premier League side have offered the 16-year-old a scholarship agreement in a bid to secure his future, despite reports suggesting that he is considering leaving the club.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing the highly rated youngster. However, Real Madrid are believed to be leading the race for his signature.
Gabriel, who recently celebrated his 16th birthday, has reportedly been absent from Manchester United training for more than three weeks. His age and European passport could also make a move to another European club possible as early as January.
United’s latest proposal is understood to be an attempt to protect their interests and establish the conditions surrounding his potential departure. Under the relevant Premier League rules, the club must offer him a formal scholarship agreement for the upcoming season.
The situation could also affect domestic clubs interested in signing the teenager, as they would reportedly need to negotiate compensation with Manchester United.
If an agreement cannot be reached, the Professional Football Compensation Committee could determine the amount payable to the Red Devils.
Manchester United are reportedly seeking more than £3 million in training compensation if the dispute reaches a tribunal. The club would also like to include a clause entitling them to 20 per cent of any future transfer fee involving Gabriel.
However, a move abroad could result in significantly lower compensation. According to the report, FIFA regulations could limit United’s payment to approximately £350,000, or around €400,000.
Losing Gabriel would represent a setback for Manchester United, who have invested in developing his talent through their academy. The coming months could determine whether he continues his development at Old Trafford or moves elsewhere to pursue his career.
