“I started this journey in 2012 I took a long break to let life happen” –Naa Ashorkor recounts
According to a report by Ghanaweb on Saturday, Oct 10, 2026, Ghanaian media personality and actress Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku has officially joined the legal profession, 14 years after she first set out to become a lawyer.
She was among 1,568 candidates admitted as barristers and solicitors of the Supreme Court of Ghana at the 63rd Call to the Bar ceremony. The General Legal Council held the event on October 9, 2026, at the ICGC Christ Temple on Teshie Bush Road.
A video shared on X captured her arriving at the venue. Asked how she felt, she said the moment had been a long time coming. She began her legal studies in 2012, she explained, but stepped away for an extended period to start a family and focus on her career. She returned to the programme roughly two years ago.
Her years in other professions, she indicated, never displaced the original goal. She credited the achievement to God’s grace, the strong support system around her, and her determination to see the dream through. She described the day as a great one for her.
The 2026 cohort included a number of well-known figures from politics and public service. Among those called were Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations Minister Sam George, Lands Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Phylis Naa Koryoo Okunor and Umaru Sanda.
For Naa Ashorkor, known to audiences for her work in media and acting, the ceremony marked the end of a journey that spanned more than a decade and several career chapters. Her call to the Bar now adds a legal qualification to a career already built in front of the camera.
