Ruto Finally Addresses Natembeya’s TAWE Slogan, and His Choice of Words Says It All

President William Ruto has taken aim at Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s TAWE slogan declaring that he intends to put an end to what he described as “ujinga” associated with the political message.

“Hiyo ujinga ya TAWE nitamaliza,” Ruto said, delivering a stern response that has drawn attention to the growing political differences surrounding Natembeya’s slogan.

The remarks have added another dimension to the political exchanges involving the President and leaders who have adopted messages perceived as challenging his administration.

However, the specific circumstances surrounding Ruto’s statement and any further action he intends to take were not provided in the initial account.

Natembeya, the governor of Trans Nzoia County has gained attention for his political messaging and public criticism of the government.

His TAWE slogan has become a subject of political discussion particularly as leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Ruto’s choice of words has raised questions about how the President views the slogan and whether his remarks signal a broader response to political opponents using it.

The statement could also fuel further debate among supporters of the two leaders as political alliances and rivalries continue to evolve.

Nevertheless, it remains unclear whether Ruto was referring to a political campaign the slogan itself, or a wider movement associated with Natembeya.

As political activity gradually intensifies ahead of the next election the exchange highlights how slogans and public declarations are increasingly becoming part of Kenya’s political contest.

Attention will now be on Natembeya’s response and whether he will address the President’s remarks directly.

For now, Ruto’s declaration has placed the TAWE slogan firmly in the spotlight leaving questions about what may follow.
