The police in Kyegegwa District have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of three family members in Karokalungi, Kyamaga Parish, Nkanja Sub-county on Wednesday night.
Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson, SP Twesige Vicent identified the deceased in a statement as Kansiime Christine, 28, her daughter, Miracle, aged one year and three months, and Joan A, 19, a domestic worker employed at Christine’s home.
Police say the suspects were apprehended with the assistance of the sniffer dog, which was introduced to the scent bed and picked up a human scent, which it followed during the tracking exercise.
The dog led the officers to a corridor in Bwiliza village, where some clothing belonging to one of the deceased was recovered.
The tracking trail further led to the home of a key suspect and one more suspect.
Police identified the murder as brutal, noting that the suspects are being held at Kyegegwa Central Police Station as more investigation continues.
