Add ARY News on GoogleFollow on Google Discoverimage: fileAAResizeQUETTA: The Balochistan Anti-Corruption Establishment has summoned Bilal Umrani, son of Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, in connection with an investigation into alleged irregularities in the development and non-development funds of the provincial Irrigation Department.

According to a call-up notice issued under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1898, Bilal Umrani, who serves as chairman of the Market Committee in Naseerabad, has been directed to appear before the Anti-Corruption Establishment at its Circle Office in Railway Housing Society, Joint Road, Quetta, on October 20, 2026, at 11:30am.

The notice states that a complaint concerning alleged irregularities, embezzlement, corrupt practices and misuse of authority by officers and officials of the Canal Irrigation System, Balochistan, in connection with development and non-development funds is under investigation.

The establishment has directed Bilal Umrani to appear before the inquiry officer in connection with the matter.

The notice warns that failure to comply with the summons may result in legal consequences under the law.

The summons comes amid the Balochistan government’s stated efforts to curb corruption and irregularities in public departments.

Last month, provincial government officials pledged not to allow the buying and selling of government jobs following directives from Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

Addressing a meeting of the Secretaries Committee, the chief minister warned that no government job would be sold in the province. He said that if credible evidence of job-selling emerged in any department, neither the relevant minister nor the secretary would remain in office.

In a statement posted on X, Bugti said he had made it clear from the outset that government jobs would not be sold and that the provincial cabinet and chief secretary shared the same position on the matter.

He also ordered a high-level inquiry into complaints of irregularities in recruitment in the Forest Department, stating that those found responsible following an impartial investigation would face consequences.
