PTI finalises arrangements for Afridi’s long march stay in Mardan

Mardan  –  The Mardan chapter of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalised arrangements for the arrival, reception and overnight accommodation of a long march led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. According to local party leaders, the march is scheduled to reach Mardan on Saturday, where participants will spend the night. The under-construction Chamtar Bus Terminal on Charsadda Road has been designated as the campsite, and arrangements for the participants’ stay have reportedly been completed.

PTI elected representatives, district office-bearers and local leaders have held a series of meetings to mobilise party workers, organise the chief minister’s reception and coordinate arrangements for the marchers. Provincial Minister Tariq Mehmood Aryani and Members of the Provincial Assembly Zahir Shah Toru and Iftikhar Ali Mashwani, along with other local leaders, have also held meetings to strengthen coordination and encourage workers to participate in the march.

The local leadership has claimed that thousands of party workers will turn out to welcome Afridi when he arrives in Mardan. Workers from different areas are being mobilised to join the march, while preparations for their overnight stay at the Chamtar Bus Terminal are said to be complete.

According to party sources, the participants will spend the night in Mardan before proceeding with the next phase of the march. However, the local leadership has yet to announce a detailed schedule for the subsequent leg of the journey. The preparations are taking place amid reports that several senior PTI leaders in Mardan have gone underground to avoid arrest. According to local party leaders, they intend to appear in public when the march reaches the district.

PTI workers have maintained that the prospect of arrests would not deter them from pursuing their political objectives. They have expressed their determination to participate in the march and accord Afridi a warm welcome.

Political activity has intensified in Mardan ahead of the chief minister’s expected arrival. The scale of participation and the implementation of arrangements for the marchers’ overnight stay remain to be seen.
