The Atlas Lionesses overturned an early deficit at Stade Moulay El Hassan to take the first match of their friendly double-header against the White Wolves.

Uzbekistan opened the scoring in the 16th minute after Morocco goalkeeper Fatima El Jebraoui was beaten by a lob from the left. El Jebraoui, who was unexpectedly selected ahead of Khadija Er-Rmichi, managed to send the ball away, but it fell to an Uzbekistan player who was able to finish into an unguarded net.

Morocco responded after half-time, with substitute Ibtissam Jraidi transforming the game by scoring twice in the space of two minutes.

The Al-Hilal forward levelled in the 65th minute with a diving header before putting the hosts ahead in the 67th with a close-range finish.

Jraidi completed her hat-trick in the 79th minute to give Morocco a decisive advantage. Her third goal came with the help of a deflection off an Uzbekistan player that sent the ball inside the post.

The result gives Blahic a winning start in his first match in charge of Morocco’s women’s team, with captain Ghizlane Chebbak and her team-mates recovering from their difficult opening period to secure victory.

The two sides will meet again on 12 October at Stade Al Medina, also in Rabat, when Morocco will conclude its first training camp under Blahic.
