In 2027, Rivers Will Come Out Vote Massively Against Tinubu, Over The Madness Cause By Wike—Chetam Nwala

Chetam Nwala, a Port Harcourt resident and political commentator, has urged Rivers State residents to resist what he described as excessive political influence by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

According to a report by Arise News on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Nwala made the remarks during an interview on the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State, calling on residents to protect their political independence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nwala expressed concern over what he considers Wike’s continued influence on the state’s political affairs. He argued that Rivers residents should have the freedom to determine their political future rather than allow one politician to dominate decisions affecting them.

Emphasising his position, he said, “Rivers State must end this hegemony. Rivers people must arise and end this hegemony in Rivers State. We are not a conquered territory.”

The political commentator also challenged the notion that Wike’s previous position as governor should give him decisive control over the state’s political direction.

“The FCT minister cannot continue to control Rivers State like it is personal estate. Rivers State is not a personal estate of the FCT minister,” Nwala stated.

His comments come amid continuing disagreements involving Wike, Governor Siminalayi Fubara and their respective supporters, with the crisis raising questions about political authority and party loyalty in the state.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Nwala called on voters to express their dissatisfaction through the ballot box. He also criticised President Bola Tinubu and Wike, whom he blamed for contributing to the political instability.

“And in 2027, Rivers will come all out, vote massively against Bola Tinubu, massively against Wike, because we are tired of the madness in Rivers State being caused by the minister alongside the president of this country,” he said.

Nwala’s remarks reflect his personal political position as debate over Rivers State’s political future continues.
