vivo S2 FE Review of Specs: 10,000mAh, but at What Cost

The vivo S2 FE pairs a 10,000mAh battery with a Rs 38,999 starting price in India. At 6GB it is the battery bargain of vivo’s range, but the 8GB model costs more than the vivo S2, and Malaysia sells the near-identical V80 Lite for about 10% less.

vivo’s 10,000mAh S2 FE is the better buy only at its Rs 38,999 base price, because the 8GB version overtakes the regular S2 while the near-identical V80 Lite costs about 10% less in Malaysia.

vivo unveiled the S2 FE in India on October 6 with a 10,000mAh battery, a 6.83-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, IP68 and IP69 water resistance and a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e chip, priced at Rs 38,999 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and Rs 42,999 for 8GB and 128GB, according to GSMArena. Sales start on October 20.

For buyers who care about battery life above everything else and want the 6GB model, the S2 FE is easy to recommend on paper. Anyone looking at the 8GB version should pause, though, because the regular vivo S2 with the same 8GB and 128GB costs Rs 39,999, which makes the FE Rs 3,000 more expensive for a slower chip, a dimmer screen and 27 grams of extra weight. And the same hardware already sells in Malaysia as the vivo V80 Lite 5G at a lower price.

The vivo S2 FE carries 2,950mAh more than the vivo S2, roughly 42% more capacity, and that is the entire case for it. The trade is visible on the official spec sheet, which lists the S2 FE at 8.59mm and 224g, against 7.99mm and 197g for the S2 according to FoneArena’s launch report from August. The S2 also has a newer 4nm Dimensity 7360-Turbo instead of the 6nm Dimensity 7300e, and its display is rated 50% brighter at 3,000 nits.

Memeburn calculated that the S2 FE’s base model works out to about Rs 3.90 per mAh of battery, compared with about Rs 5.67 per mAh for the S2, so on capacity alone the FE is roughly a third cheaper. That logic only holds at the 6GB price. At 8GB, a buyer pays Rs 3,000 more than the S2 for the extra battery and gives up chip, brightness and weight to get it.

vivo also leans on a Guinness World Record for the longest livestream on one product, 32 hours and 37 minutes, according to FoneArena’s S2 FE report. That figure describes one continuous streaming session rather than a standardised battery test, so it confirms the battery is large without telling buyers how many days of mixed use to expect. vivo’s more useful claim is that the silicon-anode cell keeps at least 80% of its capacity after 1,400 full cycles, which is still a manufacturer figure until independent testing arrives.

The vivo S2 FE is vivo’s largest battery in India, which is how 91mobiles describes it, but it is not vivo’s largest battery overall. The vivo Y600 Pro, launched in China in April, already uses a 10,200mAh cell with the same Dimensity 7300e chip in an 8.25mm body, according to GSMArena’s Y600 Pro report, which means the S2 FE is thicker than a vivo phone that holds more battery.

Outside vivo, the bar is higher still. The Honor X80 Pro Max fits 11,000mAh into an 8.08mm, 203g body, as our ranking of the biggest phone batteries of 2026 shows, so the S2 FE is big for India rather than big for the industry.

The vivo V80 Lite 5G, launched in Malaysia in September, shares the S2 FE’s Dimensity 7300e, 10,000mAh battery, 44W charging, 2,000-nit 1.5K AMOLED screen, 50MP and 32MP cameras and IP68 and IP69 ratings, according to SoyaCincau, and 91mobiles had already reported before launch that the S2 FE looked like a reworked version of it. Memeburn converted the launch prices at Federal Reserve exchange rates to compare them.

Converted at Rs 96.31 (October 2), RM4.0707 and CNY 6.7110 (September 25) per US dollar, from the Federal Reserve’s H.10 data. Local prices include different taxes, and the Y600 Pro is a different phone with a larger 10,200mAh battery.

Memeburn calculated that India pays about 10% more than Malaysia’s recommended price for the 6GB and 128GB model, and about 18% more than Malaysia’s RM1,399 launch promotion. The gap widens at the top of the range, since the Rs 42,999 that buys 8GB and 128GB in India is roughly what Malaysia charges for a 256GB model. Part of the difference is tax and distribution rather than margin, and a Malaysian unit bought abroad would come without Indian warranty support, so the comparison is a pricing signal rather than a reason to import.

The vivo S2 FE arrives in a crowded bracket. 91mobiles places it against the Redmi Note 17 Pro, which it lists at Rs 36,999 with a 9,000mAh battery, and the OnePlus Nord CE 6 at around Rs 40,000 with 8,000mAh. That leaves the S2 FE with the largest battery in the group at the 6GB price, but with less of an edge at 8GB, where rivals with smaller cells cost less. For a closer look at the phone it competes with inside vivo’s own range, our vivo S2 launch coverage covers the regular model in more detail.

The vivo S2 FE costs Rs 38,999 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and Rs 42,999 for 8GB and 128GB in India. Sales begin on October 20, 2026 through vivo’s website, Amazon, Flipkart and retail stores, with launch offers of up to 10% bank cashback.

The vivo S2 FE and the vivo V80 Lite 5G share the same Dimensity 7300e chip, 10,000mAh battery, 44W charging, display, cameras and IP ratings, and the S2 FE appears to be the Indian version of the V80 Lite. The memory options and colour names differ between the two markets.

The vivo S2 FE is the better choice for battery-first buyers on the Rs 38,999 6GB model. At 8GB, the vivo S2 costs Rs 3,000 less and offers a faster chip, a brighter display and a lighter body, with a smaller 7,050mAh battery.
