Tyson explains his role in Diddy’s pardon push.

Mike Tyson has revealed a surprising favor he did for Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Click for sound 0:00 / 0:00 The boxing legend opened up on Andy Cohen Live on Radio Andy on Oct. 8.

He appeared on the show to promote his Netflix documentary, per SiriusXM. Tyson told Cohen, “Use your own perspective of what you think about me.”

Cohen then steered the conversation toward Combs, who sits in federal prison. Tyson said the music mogul asked him to pass a message to President Donald Trump.

Combs is serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. Jurors convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

They acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. The judge also ordered a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release. Reports put his release in 2028, so he faces more than a year behind bars. Inmates there have described alleged special treatment for Combs.

“Well, I spoke with him once on the phone, yes,” Tyson said. “He wanted me to give a letter to the president.”

Tyson then confirmed he followed through. “I did what he told me to do,” he said.

Tyson did not reveal what the letter said. He also did not explain how or when he handed it over. Nor did he say whether Trump responded.

Tyson also described how he views Combs. He said they spoke by phone after the sentencing. “Yeah, I’m friendly with Puff,” he said, per Pulse Sports.

He then questioned how prosecutors built their case. “I was surprised that they went through so many lengths to get him,” Tyson said. “They used a 110-year-old rule to get him.”

Tyson did not name the law. However, AllHipHop notes that Combs was convicted under the Mann Act, a 1910 statute.

Combs’s legal team has said it is working to secure a presidential pardon, according to Pulse Sports. Tyson’s comments now put him at the center of that effort.

Trump had confirmed the request months earlier. Back in October 2025, he said in the Oval Office, “I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon,” per Fox News.

Then came January. Trump told The New York Times that Combs had “asked me for a pardon” through a letter, according to Atlanta Black Star. He said he was not considering it.

He never produced the letter. Instead, he asked the interviewer, “Oh, would you like to see that letter?”

A separate report had also linked Tyson to the letter. The National Enquirer, citing sources who spoke to The U.S. Sun, claimed Tyson delivered it at the White House. A White House spokesperson called reports about a pardon decision “not accurate.”

Tyson’s account now lines up with that earlier report.

Combs also faces more than 70 civil lawsuits nationwide, AllHipHop reports. He remains at Fort Dix. Reports in July said he landed in solitary confinement after a fight with another inmate.
