Shebeshxt’s Changed Look at Polokwane Court Sparks Reactions From Mzansi

South African rapper Shebeshxt has once again attracted public attention following his latest appearance at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court, where he reportedly pursued bail for a fifth time based on new facts. While the proceedings remain central to his ongoing legal battle, photographs and videos from the court appearance have also prompted widespread discussion about changes in his appearance.

The rapper, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, appeared on Wednesday, October 7, as his latest bail application brought renewed attention to his appearance and the serious charges he faces. Social media users shared photographs and footage from court, with reactions ranging from surprise at his changed look to concern about his wellbeing after months in custody.

However, the court proceedings have produced a significant development beyond the online discussion. Chauke’s defence presented a new ballistics report prepared by forensic specialist Dr Christo de Klerk, which it argues could challenge the state’s version of an alleged shooting in Ladanna, Polokwane, in October 2025.

Chauke maintains that he was framed and denies involvement in the alleged shooting. These claims have not been established in court, and the prosecution’s case remains to be tested through the legal process.

The musician has been in custody since November 2025 and faces 21 charges, including attempted murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, robbery with aggravating circumstances and culpable homicide.

His latest application is his fifth overall, counting previous bail applications and appeals. Earlier attempts were unsuccessful, leaving him in detention as his legal team seeks to persuade the court that the new evidence warrants his release.

Proceedings were postponed to October 26–29 to give the state additional time to consider the defence’s submissions and prepare for cross-examination. No final decision on this latest bail application had been made as of October 9.

For now, the court case continues to draw public interest, while the discussion about Shebeshxt’s appearance remains largely based on social media reactions rather than confirmed information about his health or personal circumstances.
