Turkish interior minister praises Pakistan’s crackdown as illegal immigration rate falls from 70 per cent to 17 per cent
Pakistan and Türkiye have agreed to strengthen cooperation against terrorism, drug trafficking and organised crime, with a joint working group to be established between their interior ministries.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Islamabad between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to closer bilateral cooperation.
Naqvi briefed his Turkish counterpart on the results of a crackdown on illegal immigration networks. Çiftçi praised Pakistan’s efforts, saying the rate of illegal immigration from Pakistan to Türkiye had fallen from 70 per cent to 17 per cent.
The two countries also agreed to expand cooperation in cyber policing, anti-narcotics operations and police training through their respective national police academies.
They agreed to promote technical assistance, exchanges of experts and joint initiatives to strengthen security cooperation between the two countries.
