20kg flour bag reaches Rs3,400 in Karachi, Islamabad and Peshawar

Flour prices have surged across several cities of the country, with the price of a 20-kilogram bag rising by as much as Rs400 in just one week, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday. 

According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the increase has pushed the price of a 20kg bag to Rs3,400 in Karachi, Quetta, Islamabad and Peshawar, adding to the financial pressure on households already struggling with rising living costs.

According to the PBS documents, Bannu recorded the steepest increase, with the price of a 20kg bag rising by Rs400 to Rs3,300.

In Rawalpindi, the price increased by Rs347 to Rs3,333, while Islamabad saw a rise of Rs333, taking the price to Rs3,400.

In Sialkot, a 20kg bag became Rs333 more expensive, reaching Rs3,133.

Prices in Sukkur rose by Rs300 to Rs3,060, while Peshawar also recorded a Rs300 increase, taking the price to Rs3,400.

Karachi and Gujranwala reported increases of Rs200 each, with prices reaching Rs3,400 and Rs3,000, respectively.

In Hyderabad, the price rose by Rs200 to Rs3,200.

Bahawalpur recorded an increase of Rs180, taking the price to Rs2,960, while Sargodha saw a rise of Rs106 to Rs2,866.

In Larkana, the price increased by Rs80 to Rs2,900, and Quetta recorded a Rs70 rise to Rs3,030.

In Multan, the price of a 20kg bag increased by Rs66 to Rs2,866.

However, prices remained unchanged in some cities.

A 20kg bag continued to sell for Rs2,300 in Lahore, Rs2,200 in Faisalabad and Rs3,000 in Khuzdar.
