Mahama Exposes Deep Secret About His Past
President John Dramani Mahama has entertained audiences with a nostalgic account of his childhood, recalling how he and other children would secretly take milk from the refrigerator after their mothers had put it away.
The President shared the memory on Thursday, October 8, 2026, during the commissioning of an upgraded production line at Nestlé Ghana Limited’s factory in Tema.
Speaking at the event, Mr Mahama reflected on the popularity of Ideal Milk in Ghanaian households, describing it as a product that had been part of the lives of generations of Ghanaians.
He recalled how the milk was commonly added to tea, koko, rice water and other local meals. However, beyond its use at the dining table, the product also featured in childhood adventures when children sought an extra taste outside mealtimes.
According to the President, children sometimes sneaked to the refrigerator to drink the milk after their mothers had stored it away. He also recalled how families tried to make the most of every drop remaining in an opened tin.
His remarks drew attention to the longstanding place of Ideal Milk in Ghanaian homes and the personal memories associated with familiar household products.
Mr Mahama used the occasion to acknowledge Nestlé Ghana’s contribution to the country’s manufacturing sector, describing the company as an established part of Ghana’s industrial and commercial history.
The commissioning involved a newly upgraded production line expected to increase the factory’s annual production capacity from approximately 12,960 tonnes to nearly 30,000 tonnes.
The expansion is also expected to support local manufacturing and contribute to the government’s 24-hour economy initiative by strengthening domestic production.
The President said investments of this nature demonstrate the potential for Ghana to manufacture more of the products consumed locally while creating opportunities for employment and industrial growth.
His light-hearted childhood recollection offered a personal touch to an event focused on industrial development, highlighting how products such as Ideal Milk have remained connected to everyday Ghanaian experiences across generations.
