Bank of Ghana Releases Latest Dollar, Pound and Euro Exchange Rates for Friday October 9 2026
According to a report published by the Bank of Ghana on Friday, October 9, 2026, the central bank has released its latest daily interbank exchange rates for the US dollar, British pound sterling and euro against the Ghanaian cedi.
The exchange rates provide an indication of the prices at which commercial banks buy and sell the three major foreign currencies. The figures published by the central bank are based on average interbank rates used by commercial banks for transactions at the close of business on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
According to the published figures, the US dollar recorded a buying rate of GH¢11.7741 and a selling rate of GH¢11.7859. This means the two rates differ slightly, depending on whether a transaction involves a bank buying or selling the foreign currency.
The British pound sterling was quoted at a buying rate of GH¢15.5501 and a selling rate of GH¢15.5668. The figures place the pound above both the US dollar and the euro in terms of its value against the Ghanaian cedi in the published exchange-rate table.
Meanwhile, the euro recorded a buying rate of GH¢13.1758 and a selling rate of GH¢13.1889. The published figures show that the euro’s value against the cedi was between the dollar and the pound on the day.
The differences between the buying and selling rates reflect the two sides of foreign currency transactions conducted by banks. Customers who want to purchase foreign currency may face a different rate from those selling foreign currency to a bank.
However, the interbank rates published by the Bank of Ghana should not automatically be treated as the exact rates available to every customer. The rates offered by individual banks and forex bureaus may differ depending on their pricing policies and transaction conditions.
Ghanaians who intend to exchange money, make international payments or conduct other foreign currency transactions are therefore encouraged to check the applicable rates with their respective financial institutions before completing their transactions.
The latest publication provides an official reference point for the dollar, pound and euro against the cedi as businesses and individuals continue to monitor foreign exchange movements in Ghana.
