In 2027, Rivers Will Come Out Vote Massively Against Tinubu, Over The Madness Cause By Wike—Nwala
According to a report by Arise News on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Chetam Nwala, a Port Harcourt resident and political commentator, has called on the people of Rivers State to resist what he described as excessive political influence by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during an interview on the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State, Nwala urged residents to defend their political independence and ensure that their collective interests remain central to decisions affecting the state, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nwala expressed dissatisfaction with what he considers Wike’s continued influence over political developments in the oil-producing state. He argued that Rivers State should not be controlled by any individual politician and insisted that the people must have the freedom to determine their political future through democratic processes.
Emphasising his position, Nwala declared: “Rivers State must end this hegemony. Rivers people must arise and end this hegemony in Rivers State. We are not a conquered territory.”
The political commentator also challenged the perception that Wike should exercise decisive control over the state’s political direction because of his previous position as governor.
According to Nwala, political leadership should reflect the wishes of the electorate rather than the interests of individual political figures. He maintained that Rivers State belongs to its citizens and should not be treated as the private property of any political leader.
“The FCT minister cannot continue to control Rivers State like it is personal estate. Rivers State is not a personal estate of the FCT minister,” he stated.
Nwala’s comments come amid continuing political disagreements in Rivers State involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Wike and their respective supporters. The tensions have generated debate about political authority, party loyalty and the influence of powerful figures on governance within the state.
Looking towards the 2027 general elections, Nwala suggested that voters could use the ballot box to express their dissatisfaction with the current political situation. He specifically criticised President Bola Tinubu and Wike, accusing them of contributing to the instability.
“And in 2027, Rivers will come all out, vote massively against Bola Tinubu, massively against Wike, because we are tired of the madness in Rivers State being caused by the minister alongside the president of this country,” he warned.
His remarks underscore the political significance of Rivers State as preparations for the next general elections approach. However, his statements represent his personal political views and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of all Rivers residents.
