Terrorists from ISWAP attacked the 101 Special Forces Battalion in Kukawa, Borno State, on the evening of Tuesday October 6 2026.

Military sources say at least eight soldiers were killed.

The attackers came in gun trucks and on motorcycles and started a long gun fight with the troops at the base.

For a short time they took over parts of the camp and set some military trucks and vehicles on fire.

Reinforcements and air support from the Nigerian Air Force then arrived.

Troops took back control of the base and went after the attackers.

The Army says more than 25 terrorists were killed and 14 bodies were found.

The Army confirmed the attack on Wednesday and called it a four-pronged assault.

It only said some troops paid the supreme sacrifice and sent condolences to their families.

The Kukawa area near Lake Chad has long been a target for ISWAP and other armed groups.

The attack shows that the threat in Borno is still serious despite ongoing military operations.
