Middle East tensions disrupt over 100 flights from Pakistan, also affecting large number of Umrah pilgrims

Escalating tensions in the Middle East have disrupted air operations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries, affecting more than 100 flights and leaving passengers facing cancellations and lengthy delays.

The disruption has also affected Umrah pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has temporarily suspended its flight operations to Riyadh amid the deteriorating regional situation.

More than 100 flights operating from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states have been affected by the disruptions.

According to the available details, 42 flights have been cancelled, while another 68 have been delayed by several hours, creating difficulties for passengers travelling between Pakistan and destinations across the Gulf region.

A large number of Umrah pilgrims are among those affected, raising concerns for travellers with scheduled journeys and religious travel arrangements.

Pakistan International Airlines has temporarily suspended its flight operations to Riyadh, a spokesperson for the national flag carrier confirmed.

The airline has advised passengers to verify their flight status before leaving for the airport to avoid unnecessary inconvenience amid the changing operational situation.

PIA passengers can contact the airline’s helpline at 111-786-786 for information about their flights and related updates.

The PIA spokesperson urged passengers to contact the airline before departing for the airport, particularly as cancellations and delays continue to affect flight schedules.

The airline also apologised to passengers for the inconvenience caused by the situation, acknowledging the disruption to their travel plans.

Passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf destinations are advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for the latest information about departures and cancellations.
