BYD Eyes Fast Charging for Pakistan, New Plant to Add 1,100 Jobs

Shoaib Nasir – Published October 9, 2026 Share Facebook WhatsApp Pinterest Twitter BYD is talking to its Pakistani partner about bringing fast charging technology to the country. The Chinese carmaker shared this update with Business Recorder’s BR Research.

Liu Xueliang is Vice President at BYD and head of its Asia Pacific car sales. He said BYD is in discussions with Mega Motor Company, its local partner here.

The technology is called Mega Flash Charging. It works with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery. Liu said its biggest benefit is less time spent charging. The system is built for BYD’s newer cars with the updated battery. Older BYD models can still use the chargers. But their charging speed will differ.

Liu did not confirm a launch date for Pakistan. He said the timing depends on three things. These are ready charging stations, talks with the right people, and future car plans.

BYD’s Pakistan plant is set to open in the second half of 2026. This will be the company’s sixth plant outside China. The plant can build 25,000 cars a year at first. This number can later rise to 50,000 cars a year. The project is expected to create more than 1,100 jobs. BYD also expects it to help cut about 165,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2034.
