Punjab govt extends deadline for obtaining vehicle fitness certificate
The deadline for obtaining vehicle fitness certificates has been extended by one month in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Vehicles up to seven years old have been exempted from the fitness certificate requirement.
The date has been extended from October 15 to November 15.
Motor cars with an engine capacity of up to 1,000 cc will be exempted from the fitness certificate requirement for five years from the date of manufacture.
Motor cars with an engine capacity between 1,001 cc and 2,000 cc will be exempted from the fitness certificate requirement for six years from the date of manufacture.
Motor cars with an engine capacity exceeding 2,000 cc will be exempted from the fitness certificate requirement for seven years from the date of manufacture.
A notification regarding this exemption has been issued under the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965.
Vehicles not covered by the exemption must obtain a fitness certificate by November 15.
A crackdown will be launched against vehicles that fail to obtain a fitness certificate by November 15.
