Drama as uninvited woman storms Ugandan singer Yaled’s Kukyala, claims he promised to marry her

A traditional introduction ceremony descended into chaos after a woman gatecrashed the event and accused the groom of promising to make her his wife.

The Kukyala of Ugandan singer Yaled and his fiancée, Grace, was meant to formally introduce the couple ahead of their wedding.

A video shared by blogger Matt Tee shows the indoor ceremony, which was decorated with floral arrangements bearing the couple’s names.

The event reportedly went smoothly until an unidentified woman walked in and upended the proceedings. She was said to have been unaware that Yaled was engaged, and she was shocked to find him seated beside Grace as her family formally received him.

The woman insisted that the singer had promised to marry her, a claim that sent a wave of tension through the hall. In the footage, guests can be seen whispering to one another in intense exchanges as the mood shifted from joy to unease.

In Uganda, a Kukyala carries deep cultural significance. It is the occasion when a man’s family visits the woman’s family to declare their intentions and kick-start marriage negotiations. The interruption by a woman claiming a stake in the groom’s affections was therefore especially charged.

The clip has since gone viral online, with many netizens drawn to the confrontation.

The woman’s identity remains unknown, and it is unclear how the ceremony ended after the dramatic confrontation.
